Project Objective

An industrial client has the requirement to monitor and control their water tank reservoir remotely. The had a mixture of digital, analogue and temperature input in which they wanted to connect to their existing automation system and perform higher level data analytics in real time.

Objectives:

  • To wirelessly collect and send data from sensors and equipment that monitor and manage tank level on a water reservoir for an industrial process.
  • In a single solution collate all sensor data in one web based IoT platform
  • Monitor the sensors condition through data analysis and observe standard values for normal function and alerts of failures.
  • Provide remote output manually or by automation control in the field

Solution

A combination of transmitter, gateway and IoT platform under one supported brand.

Transmitter: The Tekon TWP-4AI4DI1UT transmitter made it possible to aggregate the central equipment of the entire process, ensuring that it would gather all the sensors and equipment that independently support and monitor each variable, in a single device.

The analog and digital inputs combined with the universal temperature input formed a complete and extensive solution for the industrial context.

Gateway: The WGW420 Gateway of the plus family is the central point of the wireless sensor network to which the transmitters send all their data. The gateway can replicate the signal received by the transmitters and output 4-20mA signals into local indicators of control systems.

The Gateway’s Modbus RS485 protocol or optional ethernet connection allows integration with automation which is essential to make data available in the cloud for real time data logging or analytics via the Tekon IoT platform.

Tekon IoT Platform: The platform is a tool that allows users to observe all the data in real time, set alarms and mange risks involving plant and equipment. A tool that extended, accelerates, and amplifies the value of Tekon sensor technology. This can be further exported to 3rd party integration software.

Conclusion

Real time monitoring ensures the longest possible uptime for the infrastructure. The production process is directly related to the availability of water and any scenario that inhibits the supply of this translates to production losses and ultimately a cost the reduces organisational sustainability.

The PLUS TWP-4AI4DI1UT wireless transmitter is a device that becomes inclusive to many applications, having a leading role claimed by the versatility that its connections offer. The modernization or adaptation to already implemented systems saves time and money in the installation and potentially the efficiency of the processes.

Tekon Systems are a staged approach to the fourth industrial revolution.
