Objective
Provide a custom-designed operator console suitable for use by multiple operators, addresses ergonomic issues, allows for ease of access to controls, and ensure new elements were manufactured to fit existing equipment for installation onsite.
Solution
The solution was a turn-key system that included all wiring, device labelling and manuals, and the supply of a new SV1C operator console from Spohn + Burkhardt.
Spohn + Burkhardt manufacture joysticks, operator control stations and resistors for use in cranes, ship loaders, trains, draglines, harbours, and industrial plants. The SV1C operator console is ergonomically designed and adjustable for the perfect balance of operating and sitting to allow for relaxed, fatigue-free work. The console features high-quality, ergonomic seats that can be adjusted longitudinally, for height and tilt relative to the side consoles. Lumbar support is standard with this console equipment.
Operator emersion is vital to an operator console. To keep things familiar to the operators our design team kept the layout as close to the original as possible with:
- VNS0 style joysticks with IP65 Rubber Boots
- Buttons and operators to suit a 48VDC control system in a similar layout to the original console
- Digital Wind Speed Meter
- LHS mounted adjustable monitor holder to fit existing onsite HMI.
Testing & Materials
Our Kwinana Bulk Terminal Ergonomic Console solution was manufactured 4000kms from its final destination, making clear documentation essential. Once manufactured, the outgoing console was supplied with a factory acceptance testing (FAT) criteria that covered wiring compliance to the contract drawings, operational and pre-delivery checks, supply and return of free issued equipment, as-built documentation and packaging for transport.
Further to the FAT Leveltec supplied:
- Console general arrangement drawings
